As many of you know, the entire reason I moved to Spain has been to pursue a higher education in hopes of working with refugees long-term. It’s my heart’s burning passion and the calling I feel God has for me in life. It’s been incredibly hard to sit in a classroom learning about War, Violence and Conflict when it’s happening in my backyard.
My routine for the past month and a half has been waking up and reading multiple articles each morning for updates on the Ukraine-Russia crisis. One morning I burst into tears so angry and upset. Upset because I’m tied to a classroom when war is tearing people’s lives apart just hours away. Upset because I’m tied to a classroom when I just want to drop everything and go for however long is necessary. Everything inside of me was screaming “I have to go. I have to go. I just have to go.” I started thinking seriously about a window of opportunity and I realized my spring break is coming up mid-April… It’s only a week, but it’s something.
I began to look into opportunities and was connected with an organization who is on the ground now setting up a base at the border in both Romania and Hungary. I will be flying out in just two and a half weeks to join with the mission to be the hands and feet of Jesus and receive the thousands of refugees pouring out of Ukraine each and every day. I am fortunate enough to already be in Europe and so flights are not too expensive. So I am hoping to raise $500 in the next week for flights, food and lodging. Anything raised in addition, I plan to buy a check-on suitcase and fill it with desperately needed essentials like hygiene products, infant/children supplies, basic medicine and clothes.
If you feel a nudge to help me get there, you can donate via my paypal either through the QR code or the direct link https://paypal.me/ericaanneverett. Thank you in advance for sending me. Please keep the refugees in your prayers each and every day. They are in need of love, hope and support.
